Smallfield Raceway for 2010

2 ltr Banger Rules, ( No Volvo’s or Granada’s)

1. Saloon and estate cars of any make can be used with the following exceptions; Vans, Vehicles fitted with a diesel engine.

2. All glass must be removed, as with all inflammable materials before the car is brought to the raceway, interior and exterior trim must be removed, petrol tank must be holed or the drain plug removed.

3. A full safety harness must be fitted to the car with 2” plates under any floor fixing. NO home made harnesses.

Harnesses and protective head wear (type A Crash helmet) must be worn while racing.

4. A roll bar, full roll cage or ‘H’ frame must be fitted to protect the driver in the event of a turnover

5. Bonnets and drivers doors must be chained or bolted, seat belt webbing may be used, no string or rope. Bonnets must be secured in such a way that the engine compartment may be inspected before racing, i.e. no double skinning or the fitting of a second bonnet, bonnet plates 6” – 8” can be welded from the windscreen to wing. Drivers door can be welded 1˝” x 1˝” angle 6” long can be welded from sub frame to chassis. NO OTHER WELDING PERMITTED.

6. All cars can have a distributor guard fitted, not exceeding 9” x 3” and only bolted to the engine by 1” x 1” bar.

7. All cooling systems must be inside the engine compartment under the bonnet, not in the boot, overflow pipes to reach the ground. No header tank to extend as far as the pulley wheels.

8. All cars will be fitted with isolation or auxiliary petrol tank which will be fitted in the rear of the car and it will not exceed a maximum capacity of 2 gallons. The tank will be set up in a manner as to be leak proof, whatever position it is in. the fuel line from the tank to the engine will be made of proper resilient material, and will pass through the inside of the car, unless a metal pipe is used.

9. batteries need to be fitted securely and must have a working cut off switch;

10. All ignition systems whether isolated or otherwise will be securely fixed.

11. All cars will be fitted with a fin plate to the roof displaying figures a minimum size of 9” high x 1.5” wide. (Failing to comply with this rule will result in inaccurate placing). Drivers name must appear on the roof on the passenger’s side.

12. One driver will be permitted to race one car per meeting

13. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to race.

14. All cars taking part in the racing will be fitted with a fire extinguisher subject to periodical checks by the fire marshals.

15. Silencers will be fitted and effective at the beginning of every race meeting.

16. All cars will have an effective braking system.

17. Wheels studs will be checked.

18. No offensive slogans on cars.

19. All cars, when taken to scrutineer, must be ready to race, i.e. Harness fitted, Battery box securely fastened, except for bonnet which must be opened. The boot, if bolted down must have a 6” x6” hole to see inside, Failure to do so will result in the car being sent back to the pits.

20. Road tyres only, No tractor/dumper tyres.
